Memory Pieces

Within the framework of SCHIELE fest 09 and its focus on “Schiele and Jewishness” we developed the performance “Memory pieces” (a homage to Bruno Schwebel, who fled from the holocaust). It is the attempt to commemorate the past in the special ambience of the restored synagogue in St. Pölten. The intention of scientific regeneration is expanded by status analysis of the former sanctuary. The music of the American composer David Lang and the video-projection of Gabriella Cardazzo/Duncan Ward function as medium. “Memory pieces” is developing a complex emotional scope, whose capacity needs to be investigated. In doing that, it is possible to make a cross-generational and deep gesture.
